Dr. Jacobson received her PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from UCSF studying lipopolysaccharide produced by human-associated gut bacteria in the laboratory of Prof. Michael Fischbach, and pursued these molecules’ effects on the innate immune system via arrayed CRISPR screen in primary human dendritic cells as a postdoctoral researcher in Bioengineering at Stanford. Dr. Amy Jacobson manages operations for both the IMA the Stanford Microbiome Therapies Initiative (MITI). In her current roles, Dr. Jacobson is helping to build a team of over 20 scientists working toward bringing first-in-class microbiome-based therapies to the clinic by designing and manufacturing them in-house in the Stanford Research Park. She is excited to be involved in the advancement of groundbreaking therapeutic modalities at Stanford.
